The Rufous hummers come in greater numbers to Cameron Gardens. They arrive in late February/early March and need food and nesting material right away.
The male Rufous usually arrives first and stakes his claim. Some of the early blooming bushes here are the wild current and the almond tree which blooms in March. They couldn't do without the feeders.
On the next page I have pictured a Hummer Packet from Cameron Gardens that is sold to raise funds for local animal rescue. It includes nesting material and recipe that is a little different and more nutricious although sugar water is sufficient.
